Smoking

We have a strict no smoking policy at both of our self catering holiday properties.

Pets

We do not accommodate pets at either of our holiday properties.

Linen and towels

We provide sheets, duvets and towels for guests in both holiday properties. The only exception is if you use the cot and the cottage - you should bring your own linen for this.

Number of guests

Milton Apartment is suitable for one or two people. We no longer accommodate babies in the apartment.

Oakhill Cottage will accommodate up to four people and a baby. We can provide a cot, high chair and stair gate.

Arrival and Departure

We prepare the cottage personally each week although this takes time to do thoroughly. Usually we ask our guests to vacate at 10 am and we are ready for new arrivals by 4 pm. We will, however, always do everything possible to fit in with your arrival and departure times. For example if our guests leave early to catch the ferry, we’ll normally start cleaning early and maybe able to allow you to have access to the property early in the afternoon. If you arrive on the Isle of Man before we are ready, you are welcome to drop off your bags and collect the keys from us.

The Disabled and the Infirm

Milton Apartment is on the ground floor but has six steps to the front door and a total of three at the back door.

Oakhill Cottage has fairly steep stairs without a handrail and is therefore. unfortunately, not suitable for disabled or infirm guests.

Shops, restaurants & pubs

Milton Apartment is particularly well served with a pub, general store, two hairdressers and postbox all with 100 metres. Within quarter of a mile there is a terrace of shops (Prospect Terrace) and within a half mile radius there are six Chinese takeaways!

There are an abundance of restaurants and pubs on Douglas quay two miles away from Oakhill Cottage and the town centre is a further 400 yards away. A Tesco Superstore is just four minutes away by car (close to the harbour) and is the usually one of the first ports of call for our guests.

Besides Tesco, the Island is served by Shoprite, a local supermarket with around a dozen stores, the Co-Op (who run one of the two supermarkets in Ramsey) and a good number of independent grocers.

Most of the high street retail chains are based in Strand Street in Douglas. Tynwald Mills is the favoured shopping location outside of the towns.

The Isle of Man has many pubs and restaurants of varying prices most of which are of a good standard and offer good value.

Public transport

Milton Apartment is well served by public transport and a holiday without a car is easily possible.  Several bus routes pass within a 100 metres of the apartment.

Route 22   Route 23   Route 24  Route 9

Oakhill Cottage is not well served by public transport. There are just two buses to Douglas each afternoon (Monday to Friday only) and a morning service on schooldays only. Unless you keen on cycling or walking or prepared to pay for regular taxis, the cottage is not recommended unless you bring a car or hire a car on the Island.

We strongly recommend that you purchase an insurance policy to cover the possibility that you may have to cancel your holiday in the Isle of Man.

If you do cancel then we still rely on a certain amount of goodwill from you and we should be grateful if you would let us know as soon as you find it necessary to cancel.

We have, however, increased the time before your holiday when the final payment must be made from two weeks to four to reduce the risk to us of not being able to re-let the property of suffering a loss should we have to discount the rate.

During the off peak periods we may be able to provide a little more flexibility particularly if we have short term availability.

Long term lets

During the off peak months we are always interested to hear from anyone wishing to let our properties for several months at a time whether you are renting a property prior to buying one, on a short term contract or working within the film industry. Our prices will be discounted according to the length of your stay.

Gas and electricity charges

No additional charges are levied for gas and electricity.
